Acceptable File Formats
PDF/X-1a, TIFF and Photoshop or Illustrator EPS
Checking Your Image Files
Images/scans should be 300-350 dpi Images/scans should be saved as TIFF or EPS (JPGs are lesser quality) All images and Pantones should be converted to CMYK or grayscale (not RGB) Vectors/logos and fonts must be converted to curves All images should be imbedded in the file, not linked
Please clearly label your files and CDs with: advertiser, magazine, and issue. Please also include a business card with all your contact details.
When designing a standard format ad (one without a bleed) the ad should be the size listed in the chart. For all bleed ads, the the trim size is the actual size of the ad that will appear in the magazine. To this you should add .25 inch around the outside for the bleed. Also, please keep text .25 inch inside the trim size.
Before your final save, please check your image resolution (300–350 dpi), that you’ve converted all vectors and fonts to curves, imbedded all images, converted all colours to CMYK and turned off ICC colour management.
TIFF format is completely foolproof but produces a large file size. PDF/X-1a is quickly becoming the standard for publishing, producing a far smaller file size. If you are unsure about PDF settings, please call.
Submit your ads on CD, or post to our FTP site using FTP software (not your browser).
