Russ created a new topic Ram Mount Dealer (posted again changed username) in the forums.
I am a IT Consultant. I resell computer equipment (Servers, Software, Laptops, Dell, HP, Cisco, Microsoft...etc). We also sell other items like Ram Mounts like if a county was buying a bunch of Panasonic Toughbooks and needed a way to mount them in their police cars.
Basically, Ram is way down the list on the millions of items that I resell...but I recognized the name from a project I worked on a few years ago. Being a dealer, I can save you some money off the price but I really do not know much about the stuff. I want to be about help out my fellow Kayak Fishing friends. Email me the part numbers and I will get you a quote! G. Russell Pylant Technical Sales Manager GHA Technologies 918.398.4486 office 918.808.5996 mobile 918.516.0351 fax gpylant@gha-associates.com

My buddies are the same. All they think is John boat. They have been out with me a couple times standing on the bank and watching me paddle around to the good fishing spots. He was like..."you are all set...got your poles, gear"...I think for a second he could picture himself out on a yak. Then his hard-headed OK self came back and he said..."but that is not my style." lol
"Probably not...cause you have not style!"...I thought to myself. lol Anyway...I am looking for like minded yak fishing buddies. Pencil me in for Monday. I am supposed to go to Tenkiller with some guys I met yakin at Bixhoma. I might go up there Sat or Sun and then meet you Mon. Will let you know as the weekend unfolds. -Russ 918-808-5996 russ.pylant@gmail.com

Powman,
Some of the new kayakers need to know some of the dangers involved in cold weather conditions. I don't fish or kayak on lakes or large waters that prevent me from getting to the bank quick enough to take care of being in the water on a cold trip. I have wondered what you would have to do to survive, but I haven't been in that situation. I have some Ideas but I haven't experenced it. Maby some one that has would share some information that might help. I was in Germany 4 years in my younger years and the cold did not phase me,but age has changed things. It would be of interest to me to know what kayakers do in the case of a spill in cold weather at a long distance from shore. Jerry (Yellowcat)

Actually all is well. There is in fact a cap on the end. It just happens to be a reddish orange colour, not black like the rest of the rod holder. Since my Pungo is red and my Tarpon is orange it looked like there was no cap!
Relieved!

Peter Stelmacovich created a new topic Flush mount rod holders in the forums.
I have just discovered that the flush mount rod holders in both my Pungo and Tarpon are open at the bottom. These were NOT the rod holders installed by Wilderness Systems on their angler versions, but rather installed by the dealer.
My fear is that water could into the body of the kayaks. Is there a way to close off the bottom of these rod holders to prevent water from potentially getting in?

Well, like I said. I have both a SINK and a SOT. Oops I meant my wife has the SINK now. I better be careful!
I am sure she will let me "borrow" the Pungo 140 on the cooler days.

A few years ago when Florida was pelted with back to back hurricanes, word was the fishing was outstanding after the storm passed. hopefully this one will have the same effect......probably going to try Friday afternoon right after the storm has moved further north.

Here's another cool light...I picked one up at Bass Pro, but they don't carry them (at least not at the shop by my house) anymore:
Nite Ize LED It's waterproof, floats, and has a strobe function. I bought it for $10 but the MSRP is like $18...They come in several cool colors, but mine is white.

Bill Sikora replied to the topic Re: What is your #1 go to lure or bait for redfish? in the forums.
Lure wise, I always go to a MirrOlure MirrOdine...red head with the white body. This little lure has caught so many fish for me.
mirrolure.com/lumo/17mr.html I hear that cut ladyfish is a terrific bait for catching reds as well.
