Kayak Angler magazine regional editor Chad Hoover's new book Kayak Bass Fishing is set for release this month.
The book that was over two years in the making under the working sub-title "catch 'em where others can't" lives up to the promise.
Part science, part obsession, it could have been called Zen and Art of Bass Fishing, or maybe Think like a Bass.
Hoover, who resides in the Southeast's bass heartland and owns kayakbassfishing.com, doles out his step-by-step plan to bass mastery.
Not for dummies, this book lays out a program that amounts to a real-world PhD in bass angling for those with the determination to follow it to its logical conclusion. Weather, solunar influence, time of year, water temperature, bass physiology, lures - no variable is unexplored.
Hoover's tales of great catches in secluded oxbows, impoundments and farm ponds that only a kayak can access inspire readers to pull out the topo maps and GPS to find untapped waters of their own.
They also justify Hoover's conviction that the great trophy bass of the future will be caught from kayaks - if enough people follow his advice.
